Tens of Afghan soldiers killed by Taliban as ceasefire ended

According to Mikrofonnews Agency (MHA), at least 30 Afghan army soldiers were killed in a deadly attack by Taliban in the west of Afghanistan, local officials said on Wednesday.

This is the first large attack by Taliban on Afghan army forces since a three-day ceasefire was ended by Taliban in Afghanistan. The attack was carried out by several heavily armed Taliban on an army security checkpoint in the western province of Badghis on Tuesday night.

Taliban denied extending the ceasefire in Afghanistan while Afghan President Ashraf Ghani extended a unilateral ceasefire with Taliban to offer a goodwill to Taliban fighters who have waged a war against the Afghan government and its western allies in the past 17 years killing thousands of civilians including children in a brutal way.
