Russia calls for immediate government-Taliban talks in Afghanistan

According to Mikrofonnews agency (MHA), Russia has called for immediate and direct negotiations between Afghan government and Taliban, saying Moscow is ready to host the talks.

A statement released by the Russian Foreign Ministry says “We suggest that negotiations between Taliban and Afghan government should be started in a near future in order to put an end to the civil war in Afghanistan.

Russia is ready to prepare a work plan for the negotiations between two side”. The statement also says efforts made by the international community has been failed to bring security and stability in the war-torn country.

Russia has confirmed recently that is in contact with Taliban and the aim is to protect Russians against the rising threats coming from Islamic State’s terrorists.

Some sources in Afghanistan had accused Russia of sending weapon and money to Taliban for staging war against Islamic State’s terrorists.
