According to Mikrofonnews agency (MHA), a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Caribbean region, close to the Honduras coasts early on Wednesday.
The trembles were felt across northern Central America. Officials issued tsunami warning minutes after the earthquake occurred but the alert was lifted after. Scores of people in Honduras and neighborhoods fled their homes after feeling tremors, the Guardian quotes some firefighters at the scene.
The U.S. Tsunami Center has warned that some parts of Honduras were still at risk from waves of up to a meter. There is no report of possible causalities or damages so far. officials urged people in low lying coastal areas and islands to stay alert for potentially dangerous waves.
