Iran’s warship collides with a wave breaker in the Caspian sea

According to Mikrofonnews agency (MHA), one of the biggest warships of Iran (Damavand) with at least 18 crew members on board has collided with a wave breaker in Anzali port in the Caspian sea, Iranian news agencies reported on Wednesday.

Six of the crew members were thrown into the sea as the ship collided with the wave breaker. Unofficial news sources report the rescue of 4 crew members, but there are no news of the fate of the 2 others. Officials said storm in the sea caused the accident on Wednesday.

Witnesses say at the time of accident, height of the waves were reaching to four meters Damavand with 100 meters length and more than 1300 tones weight, is one of the biggest war ships of Iran which was officially launched in 2012 by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran’s former President.
