Iranian police attack demonstrators in different cities

According to Mikrofonnews Agency (MHA), Iranian security forces engaged with protesters in several cities of Iran late on Thursday.

Video footages circulating in social media show clashes between the protesters and security forces as slogans against Iran’s Supreme Leader were chanted by the demonstrators. Demonstrations against rising prices and unemployment were staged in at least 10 main cities of Iran simultaneously on Thursday.

Scores of protesters took to the streets of Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad, Karaj, Hamadan, Kermanshah, Ahvaz and some more cities in Iran. Reports say, police attacked demonstrators in Tehran late on Thursday and the attacks were increased during the night.

Demonstrators were threatened by security forces who urged protesters to put an end to the demonstrations otherwise will be shot by police.

Anti-riot forces used tear gas in some cities of Iran to disperse the protesters. Iran is facing serious economic challenges and currency crisis in the recent days. Some experts warn challenges will increase in the coming months in Iran as the US sanctions will be practically started in November.
