Images on the primary text books in Iran angered Turk ethnic

According to Mikrofonnews agency (MHA), publication of some images in the school books in Iran which is considered as a move to distort the identity of Turks in the west of Azerbaijan, has been criticized widely in the social media.

Iran’s Education Ministry has published the images of Iran’s map in the books which specify the living areas of the different ethnics of Iran. Western Azerbaijan is shown as a kurd dominated area, something that Kurdish terrorist groups are looking for in the past several years.

This is not the first time that Kurdish minority in western Azerbaijan is represented by the official sources in Iran as the majority.

More than 80% of the population of the West Azarbaijan are Turks, and  most of the many Kurdish residents have come from Iraq or the Kurdish dominated areas of Iran in the past 50 years. Many social media users have criticized the move and asked the fake map should be changed in the text books of the schools.
