Earthquake hit northeast of Iran

According to Mikrofonnews Agency (MHA), a 4.9 magnitude earthquake hit North Khorasan province in the northeast of Iran Iran damaging some residential buildings, local officials said on Tuesday.

At least two people were wounded while fleeing in panic as the old buildings were shaking horribly, eyewitnesses said.

Ali Akbar Muhebi, governor of Jajerem in the northern Khorasan where was hit by the earthquake on Monday said families will be evacuated from some old buildings are at the risk of being collapsed.

The families will be placed in emergency camps by the end of the day, he added. Water resources for agriculture which were located in a mountainous area were damaged completely, officials confirmed.
