Azerbaijan liberates parts of occupied lands after 26 years

According to Mikrofonnews Agency (MHA), Azerbaijani army has liberated more than 11 thousand hectors of occupied lands during a series of military operations, officials say.

The operation, participated by dozens of Azerbaijani soldiers, was launched recently. The lands were occupied by Armenia in 1992 and now retaken by Azerbaijan army, a statement by Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry says.

Reporters in the liberated areas say some strategic heights have also been retaken by Azerbaijan which will able the army to monitor Yerevan-Karabakh road. Hours after the withdrawals of Armenia form the occupied lands, Azerbaijan’s flag was raised in the area.

Locals are no able to go to graveyards of their beloved ones who died many years ago and the families were not allowed to visit the area as all the lands were occupied by Armenia. Iran and Russia were the main allies of Armenia while Azerbaijan was backed by Turkey.
