36 thousand people die of air pollution in Iran each year

According to Mikrofonnews agency (MHA), at least 36 thousand people die of air pollution in Iran each year, Iran’s Health Ministry says.

A global research shows that harmful particles in the air was known as the fifth cause of death worldwide in 2017. The particles which are exist in the air with high pollution can affect the heart and lungs and cause serious diseases.

Iran is among world’s 10 producers of greenhouse gas which is a major cause of air pollution. Using fossil fuels and low standard vehicles are the other major causes for air pollution in the big cities of Iran. schools and governmental offices are closed down several times in a year due to the heavy air pollution in different parts of Iran.
