14 suspected Daesh members arrested in Ankara

According to Mikrofonnews Agency (MHA), ahead of the Presidential and Parliamentary election in Turkey, security forces have arrested 14 people for suspected links to Daesh terror group in Ankara.

Turkish officials say the suspected members of the terror organization, all of them foreign nationals, were allegedly plotting a terror attack ahead of the election.

The operation was conducted in Ankara, the capital in the early hours of Friday by counter-terrorism squads who stormed different places simultaneously, a security official who preferred to remain unknown told Anadolu Agency.

The suspects were taken to the capital’s Directorate of Security for testimony. More than 300 people have lost their lives in Daesh-claimed attacks in Turkey so far, where the terror organization has targeted civilians in suicide bomb, rocket and gun attacks.

Turkish security forces have been involved in a long-running campaign to thwart Daesh attacks.
